It's awesome, and difficult to categorize, which makes it all the better and a much more enriching listening experience. Sort of a dark, gritty, industrial pop presented at a mellow pace with occasional glimmers of iridescent optimism.
It conjures an image in my mind of lurching rhythmically down a dusty, grey corridor in an old factory, with music playing in another room. Every so often someone opens a door, and the muffled music escapes into the cold air, suddenly pure, in a major key, simple, elegant — before being swallowed up by darkness again when the door closes.
I didn't know much about the group before downloading the album, and their website hilariously links to the band's entry on Wikipedia. Perhaps a sign of the times.
